*Arts and Crafts
*Structured Free Play (in stations in our play room)
*Math or Science
Inclement Weather Policy:
Preschool will be cancelled due to weather if Washington Community High School is closed. Check your local radio and television stations to see if school is cancelled due to severe weather.
Arrival/ Departure:
Parents will drop their children off at the main entrance of WCHS, a high school student will be there to pick your child up. Children will be released to parents or persons authorized on the pick-up list. Please see Mrs. Fillman if you would like to add or delete someone from the list. Persons picking up a child may be asked to show photo id.
Separation:
We know that separation may be an issue for your child at this age. We are extremely familiar with this and will work with your child to reduce anxiety. Typically, it is best to say your good-byes quickly and go. We have tended to many tears, but eventually children realize that you will be back. By the end of the session, most of our kids don’t want to go home!
Illness:
If your child is ill or has a fever, we discourage their participation. If a child becomes ill, a parent will be notified and asked to pick up their child. A child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning. In case of contagious disease, please notify Mrs. Fillman, We will then inform all parents.
Clothing:
We do not have a dress code for children in our program. However, we do have some recommendations. Please dress children in play cloths. We paint and do other activities that may get clothes a little messy. We do our best to stay clean, but things happen! In addition, please put children in comfortable shoes. Flip-flops are strongly discouraged.
Toys from Home:
Please encourage children to keep personal possessions at home. We are not responsible if they get lost or broken.
Supply List:
Each child will be provided a locker to store items.
Please provide the following:
Discipline:
We use redirection as much as possible in our program. After several attempts at redirection, we will use age appropriate time-outs. (One minute for every year of age.) We will also use time-outs for physical aggression. If you have any behavior concerns or special discipline instruction, please discuss this with a staff member.
Late Pick Up:
If you are going to be late picking up your children, call (309) 444-3167 ext. 1147. If we have not been informed that a parent will be late, the child will be taken to the office 10 minutes after the class has ended where emergency contacts will be called.
Donations:
If you would like to make a donation to our program the following items are always a great help: art supplies, tissues, germ x, and wipes.
